On a wire
5 colors (solids and half tones) on sand.
To be honest... I find honesty is the best policy, I completed this design for submission somewhere else only to find someone had beaten me to the general idea. The other design has not been printed. So I am happy to have this new venue to submit my version. :)
I have added a placement graphic as well as a little detail graphic to test the revision feature.
Okay, so it looks like one layer in my file was a 90% so it made it look like there was a 6th color... FIXED! :) Corrected version. Voting starts again!

this design rocks.
I really like the detail in the rib cage and triceps/biceps (?) of the thing.

nice details.
great work!

I really like it...it's awesome and the detail is marvelous. I love that you added the tiny little birds to the left to contrast the dinosaur. :)

I did an edit and it didn't work.
Also, it's supposedly on FULL HTML but the font color HTML doesn't work

Let me check out what tags are supported. The color may be getting overriden by the site css.

You edited your previous post and it didn't work?
on March 23rd, 2008
OK, Iol'd. Kick ass design.
on March 23rd, 2008
Are you using "rich text" to enter? My guess is that if it's not supported in the editor, it gets converted to text even if you're in Full HTML mode. But then again... I just edited this in rich text mode and it appears to have worked.
Let me try my other account.
on March 23rd, 2008
That appears to be it. If the TinyMCE rich text editor doesn't support that tag, even if you're in full html mode, it converts valid HTML to the escaped version like so: <font color="red">red</font>
Disable rich text editing and manually entering it still works.

So revising resets voting... interesting. nice feature.
Now everyone can have the joy of voing AGAIN! :)
on March 23rd, 2008
We're wondering the best way to do that. We want each revision to have it's own score, so we can see whether something is getting better or worse, but, I'm a little worried about "Now everyone can have the joy of voing AGAIN! :)"
I think it'd be best to add a feature on each design thread, that allows a user to select a design, and be notified if there is a revision. Or something like that... So you could watch a given design, or designs...
What do you think?

In the closeup, it looks like there is a black color shading the wings of the pterodactyl, and the belly of the biggest brown bird.
Is that a sixth color? Or did you achieve that with half-tones of the other colors?
on March 24th, 2008
That is a overlay of 2 different half tones on a solid color. The wings and the big bird are solid blue with a half tone of the tan to make their overall color and then the half tone of the darkest brown is layed over that for shading.
There should be only 5 colors in this. I can look at all my files again to double check and upload a new version (would be good for an extra test too). I will look at the jpeg settings too.
....okay, the image is all fixed! :) Let me know if anyone sees anything else.

cool!

wouldn't wear it as the big bird looks a bit too goth ;) but i LOVE the other birds - if you made a shirt with them as the stars, that'd totally win me over.
