I just noticed Lauging-Dog is from Kirksville, MO. I went to high school about an hour west of there in Trenton though I'm originally from Chicago and the burbs (and live there now). I think Trenton's only claim to fame (infamy?) is Dan Porter who freakishly enough was my best friend and next door neighbor - if you can call the adjoining property 1500 acres away a "neighbor" - while I lived there.
Where's everyone else from?

I am from Florida... sixth generation Floridian to boot. Tried to escape a couple of times. But thanks to the intrawebs I can do neato stuff while still staying here.

Jeff is a fellow Floridian. I have a lot in Big Pine Key I've been trying to sell for 2 years now so I guess I'm partially Floridian too. Don't know why you'd want to escape. You've got your own Fark tag for pete's sake!

"You've got your own Fark tag for pete's sake!"
You hit the nail on the head. :)
Luckily I am in an area that is less Fark worthy.

Well, I was born in Michigan, but my family moved to Florida when I was 10. So, in my view I grew up in Florida, and wonder every Spring/late Winter what the hell I'm doing in Illinois...

Haha cool, I know where Trenton is at. :D I went to highschool at Palmyra, MO (next to Hannibal, MO...where all of that Mark Twain stuff is at). And now as Mark mentioned, I'm in Kville going to college at Truman State.

Trenton? I lived in Trenton Michigan until I was 10.
Are you talking about Trenton Mizzou? Or Trenton NJ??
/I swear I can't look at your avatar without cracking up
on June 3rd, 2008
Oh. I finally just read Mark's post. Trenton MO it is.
/we should get your avatar and my avatar together. they would have fun.
on June 3rd, 2008

Haha... avatars... anyhow, I'm from Canada. Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to be specific. It's known as the "City of Bridges". I'm going to school at the University of Saskatchewan and majoring in computer science.
on June 5th, 2008
Yea! A fellow computer geek. I got my M.S.A.I. (M.S. Artificial Intelligence) from UGa in Athens, GA, and was working on a PhD in A.I. here in Chicago before I got bored and went to work.
on June 5th, 2008
HA! :) AI at UGa... then you know Dr. Donald Nute.... ?
on June 5th, 2008
Holy crap... Yes, very well. And Dr. Covington - one of the most strangely brilliant men I've ever met. Yes, PPiD (Prolog Programming in Depth) has been forever burned into my retinas. Dr. Don Potter was my mentor there, and I think they're all still at the program.
on June 5th, 2008
Now for the small world moment.... Donald Nute is my father-in-law.
on June 5th, 2008
Holy Fark.
I don't know any of those people, but that is definitely a weird small-world moment.
on June 5th, 2008
Wait... what? Seriously? As in, you married his daughter? I believe I met her once at a party at their house. Ashley or something like that? That's amazing. He's the one that really got me started on Cichlids. I had a tank of South Americans for a long time but nothing like the collection he had.
on June 5th, 2008
Achsa, actually. They have phased out the cichlids to put all their energy into the garden railroad now. Which is HUGE now.If you had not seen it before... here is his website about the railroad and more.http://www.laketownandshire.net/
on June 5th, 2008
Achsa didn't by chance attend the school of art at UGa? My wife seems to remember going to school with someone with that name when we were down there.
on June 5th, 2008
Yup, did her undergrad there. Mostly book arts and print making.
on June 6th, 2008
That's bizarre. My wife, Amy, had paper making and some other class with her.
on June 5th, 2008
And I wouldn't be surprised if there were other crossed paths here. Jeff, didn't you go to Georgia Tech for a while?
on June 5th, 2008
Yes, I went to Ga. Tech from 88 to 93, and lived in Atlanta.
We used to go to the V after every finals week, and eat some chili dogs and fries. You know, just to clean out our systems. Believe me, it worked.
on June 5th, 2008
So why do I seem to be the only one who knows about "Fat Matt's" on Ponce in Atlanta then?!?
on June 5th, 2008
Never heard of Fat Matt's. Been on Ponce many, many times.
I believe it is in your imagination...
on June 5th, 2008
Sorry. Piedmont.
