Smitty - that's a really good question and one we've discussed quite a bit. And frankly, we still don't have the best answer. What we really want is to print the best shirts in the eyes of the community. But then you have to ask the question - what is the best shirt? Is it the best average score? Is it the one that evokes the strongest responses? In other words, if 10 people voted and every one of them said "I kinda like it", is that shirt as good of a candidate to print as 10 people voting and 5 of them saying "I LOVE IT!" and 5 people actively disliking it?
I'm not an artist in any reasonable definition of the word, but I do a fair bit of writing. I'd rather someone walk away from something I've written saying "man, that pissed me off" than saying "it was okay...". (Usually they just walking away saying "you use too damn many commas").
With the first round of shirts we are printing though, the choices were pretty clear. They obviously evoked a strong emotional response, and fairly uniformly (predominately strong positive votes). As moderators, where we're going to have difficulty is stepping back and letting the community decide. For instance, my personal favorite design was not in the running for the shirts we printed. The last thing we want to do here though is go all Broward County on you and start electing designs just because we like them.
So far I think I am liking this one the best of your submissions. I am a really big fan of the Rhinocerotidae (I love me some 'monsters'), but the shirt color is really throwing me on that one. The over all color and design works well on this one.
good to know. I received an email from Jeff about posting my work on this site so I have only been playing ab=round here for a few days, let me know how everything is going. Also, are there any shirt colors we can't use?
