Great. Very fun. IMHO, I think it would be fine without the thought balloon and would be much clearer and simplar to read without loosing the impact.
I agree with Woodbane. I really like this (and can relate - who can't?). But I think it would be even better without the thought ballon.
I would also suggest adding some design element to the beaver's and platypus's tails - crosshatching maybe?
